Highway of Life: Lessons to Learn

I have been thinking - that life is very similar to that of a Highway. Yes, when you think about it - there are many similarities, for example: express lanes, passing lanes, slow lanes, exit ramps, entrance ramps, break-down lanes, tolls, rest stops, packed full of scenery and of course the need for fuel and maintenance. Sounds like the pace and rhythms of life.
In life, there is a rhythm - a very distinct rhythm and pattern. At times we are accelerating - and achieving our goals and wishes. At other times, we are stalled and backed-up in traffic (emotional and psychological).
In life, in fact across our lifespan, we are surrounded with changing scenery….some of it is beautiful and bountiful….while at other times we experience barren and desolate points. But as on the highway and life - everything changes and everything passes….everything.
Yes, as in life there are “tolls to pay” and “speed restrictions” - sometimes you are in the “express lane” or you may find yourself in the “passing lane or slow lane” and if needed, the “break-down lane”. There is also the “rest-stop” to refuel and reinvigorate.
But what are the main lessons and parallels between a highway and life? The answer is simple: “the power of cruise”. Cruising in life, as on the highway, is the optimal speed. There is really no need to rush or stay in a stalled position - neither are very helpful across the lifespan.
When you really think about it - a highway can be a very powerful and useful life-metaphor.
See you at your destination….
